Zoos & Aquariums 
SCS has developed a niche within the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) by performing work that is based on quality workmanship, professionalism, integrity and a competitive price. We have worked with AZA facilities to ensure that the exhibits, pools, animal holding areas, USDA compliance and facilities maintain their accreditation and aesthetic appearance. We practice and apply the policy and standards of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) & The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) standards.
Soft Floors
The Soft Floors concept was designed for the facility animal-holding areas and to provide a balance between the animals’ natural environment and the requirements of the caretakers. The Soft Floors have two components—a soft lower component to meet the animals’ natural environmental needs, and a seamless, textured slip-resistant, durable top component that can be scrubbed and cleaned. Whether it is an elephant, rhino, zebra, tapir, giraffe, flamingo, bird, bat, chimp, orangutan, lion, or bear…if it has feet, we can meet the need. In addition to stalls and pens, Soft Floors can be applied in exhibit areas, hospital areas, exam rooms, treatment areas, recovery stalls, laboratories and wet areas.
Pools/ Tanks/ Infrastructure
SCS has worked extensively in behind-the-scenes applications, such as brine and salt water makeup and water-holding tank coatings. We work with coatings that are resistant to concentrated levels of chlorine, sodium hypochlorite, ozone, salt water and waste gasses. Additionally, SCS provides coating solutions for water reclamation and conservation, corrosion and erosion control. SCS installed coatings that are color-fast UV stable, fast-set and do not crack, chip, or peel, and have extended the service life on concrete, steel, fiberglass tanks, and floors.
SCS had the privilege of working with the National Marine Life Center in the marine animal hospital during the construction phase of their project.
